About me
Chris Carroll sees differently. He makes pictures that are beautiful, complex, and intimate. Clients and subjects alike have praised Chris's ability to reveal inner aspects of the sitter and capture nuances of character. His technical proficiency makes the camera virtually disappear, allowing him to forge an instant connection with his subjects. Chris particularly loves women and puts them at their ease; his genial manner dissolves anxiety and replaces it with curiosity and openness, so his subjects emerge in a new light. Grit, pathos, sensuality and humor--these are the hallmarks of Chris Carroll's visual language.Referees:
Want to know how I heard of Chris Carroll? I saw an actress's bio on a theater's website and was stopped cold. I had to find out who did her shots. Now I've worked with a lot of photographers. I'm a working actor and singer, and in the past I did some national level pageants. After stalking and finding his website (A list clients too!), sent an email and got a quick reply. He was funny! And nice. We set up an appt.
Now, I've been on shoots where we drive around for hours, spend time in several locations, and at the end of the exhausting day you're left with two good ones. Two. Here? In a normal sized room, using different angles and backdrops, we were able to create the feel of six different places. And fast! In the span of three hours (not five, not six) I do believe I am set for the next ten years.
This guy works fast, gets great results, and is just darn fun to work with. If you can't feel confident when you're at the shoot, the camera with magnify that. A lot. So the fact that Chris Carroll is a hoot to be around, and one of the happiest family men I've met, is invaluable.
A couple fast days later, the proofs were ready. We went over them- he was quick, efficient, and let me say which I preferred. Only when asked, did he give his super professional and spot-on opinion. I had a tough, tough time deciding. At the end of the day, we settled on a good thirty that I could use at the drop of a hat. Yup, thirty. He's that good.
Now, to retouching. Fast. Fabulous. I still look human. A good looking human, but with expression, not alien perfect skin. That's important. He had those ready and emailed, just in time to print for an audition. Chris captured a depth and honesty I'd never seen in my other shots. It was the best experience. And I finally feel that the woman in those shots is the woman walking into the room. Thanks Chris, Bravo.
