AKTO Art & Design College (Athens, GR) | | | About me | Ismini was born in 1980 in Athens, Greece. She studied Industrial Design in Akto College of Art and Design for three years. By the end of her third year, she decided to take her studies towards combining her love and so far knowledge of design, with her passion for film and theatre.
In 2001 she moved to Middlesbrough, England to study set, costume and prop design in Teesside University, graduating in 2004 with a Ba(Hons) in Entertainment Design Crafts with specialty in set. During that period she had the chance to work for a big Greek film production: The Valiants of Samothrace (Oi Gennaioi tis Samothrakis) by the director Stamatis Tsarouchas. There, she worked as an assistant along side production and costume designer Labrini Kardara, who inspired and introduced her to the application from theory to practice in filming.
During 2004- 2006 she lived in Athens and worked in various projects including theatre and short films. Most of her work however was for TV productions as an art director assistant. Deciding to specialize further on film, she moved to London, UK and studied Production Design in Film and Television, a MA degree at the University of Kingston.
Since then, Ismini has been working professionally both in England and Greece, for many independent productions as well as some selected shorts. Film Festivals, that some of the films she has worked for, have featured in:
