Camera Operator

A Camera Operator often works their way up from a Runner or a Camera Assistant. A Camera Operator works with a Director of Photography to decide how to position the camera, how to frame a shot and which lenses to use. They are responsible for operating the camera, while the DoP is responsible for the visual style of the film.
A Camera Operator has to have good technical skills, while also being creative in order to combine this with composition and framing.
Some always want to remain Camera Operators while others move into DOP positions or directing.
